Dossy. 93 posts · Joined 2017. #9 · Apr 12, 2018. i got a copy of the 2017 maps off the internet and burnt to disc myself. so yeah, cheapy CD's off ebay should be fine. also, if you get hold of the 3 CD's for the firmware update they include the earlier 'step' update and the 5570 update, so you just do them in order and bobs your uncle.
Without the key to allow updates beyond what your are entitled to, the map update files are useless. The key is entered by Audi when the car is connected to their diagnostic system and updates a hashed value in the MMI software. Once that is done, then you can use the update files. I think the cheapest I have seen for a map update was $295 + labor.
